ACSS are pleased to announce the approval from Transport for London (previously the Public Carriage Office or PCO) to supply and install their Mini1 and MDVR1 mobile digital video recorders in London Taxis.

This follows extensive documentation submissions, lab and field testing, and certification. Speaking about the approval Business Development Manager Stuart Braybrooke said “This is fantastic news to have achieved approval for our CCTV in London Taxis. We have worked in close partnership with TfL, cab drivers, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers to achieve this and have been greeted with great enthusiasm from both public and drivers who see this as a great advancement for safety. Our systems are already installed and proven in thousands of vehicles throughout the UK ranging from taxi cabs to buses, haulage vehicles, emergency service vehicles, and heavy plant. Gaining TfL approval now gives taxi cabs in London access to some of the most advanced mobile CCTV technology available and orders are already being placed for vehicles throughout London”.

The approved systems can record onto both SD memory card and hard disk. Typical installations include two cameras in the passenger area (forward and rear facing), and a third camera for the cash window, and optional audio recording capability. Unlike older vehicle CCTV systems which recorded at low frame rates and low resolution, these new CCTV systems from ACSS record very high quality video at full frame rates and high resolution from all cameras simultaneously. The files are fully encrypted which protects the footage and also allows it to be used as evidence in a court.

ACSS have a team of trained installers throughout London. For pricing and details of your nearest supplier and installer please contact ACSS.

CabCam posters and sales flyers now available for installers and resellers

ACSS are delighted to announce a new range of A2 posters and A5 sales flyers to support the CabCam marketing campaign. The posters and flyers are available free to all our authorised installers and resellers.

The new CabCam marketing campaign focuses on a number of real-life cases of assaults in taxi cabs. Business Development Manager Stuart Braybrooke commented “We already knew that CabCam could provide vital evidence in the case of an alleged assault in a taxi cab but when we started to research the details of such cases we were genuinely shocked by what we found. There were an alarming number of serious physical acts of violence perpetrated by both members of the public and by drivers. Our CabCam customers have told us that by installing our in-car CCTV systems their business has grown as the travelling public choose the safest taxi service available. This is particularly true for the more vulnerable passenger groups such as children on school runs, older or infirm poeple, and women travelling alone. However, CabCam also provides a double benefit as the drivers feel more secure particularly when driving in inner-city areas and handling large sums of cash”.

CabCam is a discreet and high quality mobile digital video recording system for taxi cabs. It features a sphysically secure recording media (so it cannot be removed or evidence destroyed without keys) and it uses a prorpietary secure recording format so the video files can only be played back on authorised computers. This means the video evidence can be used in court and can be proven to be trustworthy.

The CabCam in-car CCTV system is already in use with a number of taxi fleets across the UK and has proven itself on countless occasions. 247247 Taxis in Hastings said “CabCam has already proved 4 Accidents were Non Fault thanks to CCTV footage, and it has protected drivers against false complaints. Also the Police have used CabCam CCTV footage of Passengers who got into one of our Taxis after they had just broken into a house!”.

Bulletin ACSS. The power of partnerships – mobile security solutions for the Welsh Ambulance Service and Cab Safe for vulnerable taxi drivers

ACSS (Advanced Communications and Security Systems) is at the forefront of developing practical, mobile security and protection systems for real life situations. ACSS achieves this by teaming up with agencies and companies that share the same desired security and protection outcomes.

The recent Welsh Ambulance Service pilot involves installing mobile digital video recorders in ambulances to provide staff with protection against assault and false litigation claims.

Taxi drivers are also benefiting from the ACSS partnership approach. Cab Safe is working with the company to provide mobile security systems to protect vulnerable taxi drivers, who often work alone and at night. The systems developed offer protection and pro-active security around the clock, highlighting any attacks or threatening situations to trained monitoring station operatives.

Mobile security systems need to be designed for real life situations and ACSS has found an approach that meets this requirement.
