A video has emerged showing a man driving down the M4 at 60mph whilst using two mobile devices. As the unmarked police officers get to the window, the driver lowered the phones trying to disguise them.
The driver was reported to a supporting police unit where he was then stopped and dealt with regarding the offences.
As part of the operation last week, the force also caught a vehicle weighing 3.5T illegally towing a trailer in lane three at excessive speed.
Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said “The offences captured by Avon and Somerset Police’s Road Policing Unit are appalling, unacceptable and dangerous.
“The minority who use mobile phones and tablets or become distracted by sat navs are not just putting themselves in danger but others around them.”
