In a post-pandemic world, fleet operators have faced what seems like a constantly changing environment, with one of the biggest challenges being the rising cost of fuel. In a recent study, it was found that 39% of fleets have struggled with the rising costs of fuel, seconded by the difficulty in retaining drivers.
32% of fleets have said that converting their vehicles to next-generation fuel types such as electric and hydrogen has been their largest expense, second to purchasing new vehicles.
Fleets can reduce their costs with telematics and fleet management software to improve driving behaviour and reduce fuel costs through efficient route planning. Out of those surveyed 37% of fleets that have adopted Telematics claimed improved driver behaviour, reducing idling and fuel costs. Using driver performance ranking 37% of fleets stated they had been able to retain drivers by adding bonus incentives for better performance, encouraging safer driving practices across their fleet
