According to a recent study, only a third of fleet managers are told there is no need for vehicle tracking and dash cameras, despite all the benefits that fleet managers can get from having vehicle tracking and dash cameras installed in their fleets.

This year insurers should re-evaluate their views on tracking and dash cameras. In a recent study of 200 businesses, fleet managers noted the following benefits of tracking and CCTV.

  • 66% of fleet managers have said telematics have reduced theft.
  • 60% noted that driver behaviour had improved.
  • 55% said overall productivity, regarding operations, had improved.

With all these benefits reducing the risks associated with insuring fleet vehicles, it stands to reason insurers should reduce premiums for fleet vehicles if they have tracking and dash cameras installed as they do for younger new drivers.
