FAQs
ICO is the Information Commissioner’s Office, it is an independent regulatory body in the United Kingdom that is responsible for upholding information rights and data protection laws. Find Out More Here.
The regulations around CCTV use in taxis vary depending on the council you are licensed in. Some councils require that they serve as the Data Controller for your CCTV footage. This means that in the event of an incident, you would need to contact your council to access your recorded footage. However, some councils do offer the option for taxi drivers to become their own Data Controllers. This would require becoming ICO approved, which allows you to access your footage whenever you need to. Alternatively, ACSS can serve as your Data Controller, and you would contact us in the event of an incident to gain access to your footage.
If ACSS is your Data Controller and you need to access your CCTV footage following an incident, please contact us for assistance. ACSS provides two free downloads of your footage. After that, we charge £50 per download. However, we strongly advise that you consider becoming your own Data Controller and obtain ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) approval. For an annual fee of £40, you can have direct access to your CCTV footage at any time, which can be a more cost-effective solution. Our team can provide guidance and support if you choose to become your own Data Controller.
ACSS has our team of installers who can install the system or we will use one of our approved installers. For added security, the Mobile Digital Video Recorder (MDVR) will be securely screwed into place to prevent tampering. Additionally, if you opt for panic buttons to be included in your installation, our team will drill holes into your vehicle to properly fit them. We understand that your vehicle is important to your livelihood, and we take great care to ensure that our installations are carried out with the utmost care and expertise.
